When to Visit the Emergency Department

Recognizing Life-Threatening Symptoms

Knowing when a symptom requires immediate medical attention can save a life. Our 24/7 Emergency and Trauma center is always ready, but recognizing these signs at home is the first step.

  • Chest Pain: Sudden pressure, squeezing, or pain in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes.

  • Difficulty Breathing: Shortness of breath that occurs suddenly or makes it hard to speak in full sentences.

  • Stroke Signs: Sudden numbness in the face or limbs (especially on one side), confusion, or trouble speaking clearly.

  • Severe Trauma: Any deep wounds, heavy bleeding that won’t stop, or suspected bone fractures following a fall or accident.
